Valerio Magrelli

Valerio Magrelli, born in Rome in 1957, is a poet, essayist, translator, and academic. He made his debut in 1980 with the poetry collection Ora serrata retinae, followed by works such as Nature e venatureEsercizi di tiptologia, and Il sangue amaro. Alongside poetry, he has published prose works and autobiographical reflections including Nel condominio di carne and Geologia di un padre. A translator from French, he has edited works by Valéry and Mallarmé and has taught French literature at several Italian universities. He contributes to newspapers and cultural magazines. His writing moves across poetry, criticism, and everyday observation.
