Pupi Avati, born in Bologna in 1938, is a film director, screenwriter, and producer. His career spans over five decades, marked by a wide range of genres. He directed films such as Thomas e gli indemoniati (1970), The House with Laughing Windows (1976), Bordella (1976), Christmas Present (1986), The Story of Boys & Girls (1989), Brothers and Sisters(1992), The Best Man (1998), The Heart Is Elsewhere (2003), The Friends at the Margherita Café (2009), Il signor Diavolo (2019), and She Still Speaks to Me (2021). He has also worked in television and authored novels. His latest film, L’orto americano (2025), is based on one of his books.
