Born in Venice in 1944, he is a philosopher and university professor. After earning a degree in philosophy with a thesis on Lukács, he taught at several Italian universities and founded the Faculty of Philosophy at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. His numerous publications include Icone della legge, Il potere che frena, Metafisica concreta (2023), and Van Gogh. Per un autoritratto (2025). He served as a Member of the European Parliament and was elected Mayor of Venice three times.
