
Yasmina Reza, born in Paris in 1959, is a playwright, novelist, screenwriter, director and actress. She is the author of plays, novels, short prose works, screenplays and works for cinema. Her best-known plays include Conversations après un enterrement, Art, L’homme du hasard, Trois versions de la vie, Une pièce espagnole, Le dieu du carnage and Bella figura. Art is one of her most internationally performed works. Le dieu du carnage, published in Italy by Adelphi, was adapted for cinema by Roman Polanski under the title Carnage. Reza has also published novels and prose works, including Hammerklavier, Une désolation, Adam Haberberg, Dans la luge d’Arthur Schopenhauer, Heureux les heureux, Babylone and Serge.
Her most recent work is Récits de certains faits, published in France by Flammarion in September 2024. The book brings together short texts also connected to the observation of court trials and to narrative fragments of personal life.
