In Capri the fifth edition of "Le Conversazioni, scrittori a confronto"

June 25 to July 4, 2010 a dialogue with six great English language writers on liberty and human rights.

«All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood».

Le Conversazioni, scrittori a confronto – the literary event created by Antonio Monda and Davide Azzolini with major figures of contemporary English language literature – returns this year to Capri in the Piazzetta Tragara for the fifth edition on a theme of great relevancy and of universal interest, human rights.

This is the third consecutive year that Dazzle Communication together with the Marilena Ferrari-FMR Foundation will organize this event, the latter’s latest artistic creation on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights having inspired this year’s theme.

During the two consecutive weekends between June 25th and July 4th, Antonio Monda will meet with E. L. Doctorow, an acute and astute observer of the socio-political reality of the United States, author of such novels as Ragtime and Billy Bathgate; Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the Nigerian writer, and winner of the 2007 Orange Prize and the 2009 International Nonino Prize for Half of a Yellow Sun; Colson Whitehead, finalist for the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for his novel John Henry Days; Joshua Ferris, 2007 PEN/Hemingway Prize for Then We Came to the End; David Byrne, historic founder of the Talking Heads, author of the book Bicycle Diaries; Adam Haslett, finalist of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize and 2002 National Book Award with Union Atlantic, just arriving now in Italian bookstores.

As in recent editions, this year there will be the intervention of important personalities of Italian culture: Walter Veltroni converses with Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Paolo Giordano faces off with Joshua Ferris, and Paolo Sorrentino partners with David Byrne. Again for the 2010 edition a volume of unedited pieces by each author in Capri will be published on this year’s theme, in English and Italian.

Dazzle Communication and the Marilena Ferrari-FMR Foundation present “Le Conversazioni, scrittori a confronto”, with the support of the City of Capri, Georgetown Entertainment Group, Tramontano and the Hotel Punta Tragara.

Admission is free and there will be consecutive translation during the presentations.
