gay talese
An American writer and journalist of Italian origins, Gay Talese is considered the father of the American New Journalism with Tom Wolfe and Norman Mailer. A New York Times reporter from 1956 to 1965, he has also contributed to the Times, Esquire, The New Yorker, Harper's Magazine, and other American magazines. His groundbreaking article Frank Sinatra Has a Cold, written in 1966, was considered the “best story Esquire ever published”; today it is included in the extraordinary collection of portraits of protagonists in the New York of the Sixties, Frank Sinatra ha il raffreddore. Ritratti e incontri, which was published in Italy in 2010. The same publishing house translated into Italian Honor Thy Father (1971), a kind of biography of Joseph “Bananas” Bonanno, the boss of the New Yorker mafia (2011), and Thy Neighbor's Wife (1980), an unblushing picture of the overseas eroticism during the Fifties (2012).
