untitled excerpt from something lomger that isn't even close to halfway finished yet

The most original, creative and stimulating voice to appear in the literature of the United States since many years. In the essays which he has written on the most disparate topics (from tennis to pornography, from lobster fairs to the special effects of cinema), just as in his short stories and novels, Wallace reinvents, manipulates and subverts language following a very personal logic, which is always marked by lucidity and sincerity. The use of obscure and evocative terms, and of extremely long footnotes, has become the first distinctive traits of an absolutely amazing talent, who knows how to use irony and confront it, and, most of all never fears his own ambitions.
