Director and screenwriter, after gaining notoriety through a number of horror-themed short films, he made his feature film debut in 2018 with the horror film Hereditary, which he wrote and directed, starring Toni Colette and Alex Wolff and screened to rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival. Midsommar, his second picture, was released in 2019 and gained acclaim from reviewers and audiences alike. Based on his 2011 short film Beau, he wrote and directed Beau Is Afraid in 2023, which starred Joaquin Phoenix.
