Leslie Jamison
Born in Washington, D.C., Jamison grew up in Los Angeles and lived in Iowa, Nicaragua and New Haven, CT, where she worked several temporary jobs before getting to popularity as a writer. She wrote the novel The Gin Closet (2010), shortlisted for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the essay collection The Empathy Exams (2014) a New York Times best-seller, and The Recovering: Intoxication and its Aftermath (2018). Jamison now teaches at Columbia University and his contributions have been published on several American magazines, such as The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, Harper's and Oxford American. In September 2019 her new essay collection, Make It Scream, Make It Burn, is coming out.
