Novelist, journalist and teacher, he writes for several Italian publications and teaches Italian literature. Among his many novels, often focused on characters and moments that made the history of mankind: Campo del sangue, shortlisted for the Strega award in 1997; La città dei ragazzi, published in 2008; L’uomo del futuro, a biography of father Lorenzo Milani, shortlisted for the Strega award in 2016. Hi last novel is Il vangelo degli angeli, published in 2021.
