Candice Carty-Williams
British writer, she created the BAME Short Story Prize for the underrepresented BAME writers of the United Kingdom, with the goal of guaranteeing to such authors a better and wider access to publishing and representation. She made her debut as a writer in 2017 with the novel Queenie, shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction: the story of a difficult year in a twenty-five-year-old of Jamaican descendant life, ironically tackling the issue of racism in everyday life. Her writing appears regularly on publications as the Guardian, i-D, Vogue, BEAT Magazine and The Sunday Times. Her second novel, People Person, is due in 2022.
