Garth Risk Hallberg was born in Louisiana and grew up in North Carolina. His writings have appeared in “Prairie Schooner”, “Glimmer Train”, “Best New American Voices 2008” and “The Millions”. In 2007 he published a novella, A Field Guide to the North American Family. His first novel, City on Fire (2015), defined one of the best books of 2015 by the main American newspapers, is an international bestseller and has been translated into 17 languages. It’s an ambitious work, the portrait of an open, various and evasive New York of the late Seventies, where the murder of a girl in the Central Park is the starting point to analyse the lives of all the other characters, that reflect the psychological universe of each of us. A two-time finalist for the National Book Critics Circle’s award for Excellence in Reviewing, he lives in New York with his wife and children.
