One of the most dazzling narrative talents in recent decades, he began his career working at “The New Statesman” together with Christopher Hitchens. His first two novels, The Rachel Papers and Dead Babies became films many years after being published. He collaborated with Tim Burton on the screenplay of “Mars Attacks!” His style, labeled too quickly post-modern, manages at the same time to be direct and visionary, poignant and ironic; and the influence of great writers like Nabokov and Bellow is reworked in a style that is inventive and absolutely personal, characterized by a cultural approach that refuses any form of political correctness.
